Hand-painting Ceramic Mugs!

Turning a tired-looking mug into a cute coffee cup is a perfect DIY project; just use one of these simple design ideas and some acrylic paint!

Materials Used:  Hand Painted Ceramic Mug

–  Thin Paint Brush –  Acrylic Paint –  Plain Mug –  Dishwasher Safe Sealant

Step 1: Clean & Dry Your Mug

Oils from your kitchen, from food, or even from your hands will get in the way of the paint sticking to the ceramic’s surface. It is not ideal if you want your efforts to last!

Repeat Step 3 for the next two colors, painting the orange and yellow semicircles just inside the color before them.

Step 4: Repeat Until Complete

Acrylic paint takes anywhere from 20 minutes to 2 hours to be touched dry, depending on its thickness, but you’ll need to leave it for 1-4 days to dry completely solid before it is safe to hand wash.

Step 5: Allow to Dry
